My Free Art Gallery (aka the FART Gallery) has finally been launched! It was delayed multiple times while I dealt with health issues (lupus, RA, cancer) that included a months-long stint in a nursing home.

Why a Free Art Gallery?

I love to see the free lending galleries from which you can take a book or leave a book. Somewhere along the line it occurred to me that the same could be done with art.

I'm an art evangelist and creator. When I moved to this little coastal town I was amazed at how kind and generous the people are. In California that wasn't the case; I barely knew my neighbors and didn't know anyone in the community. In Ocean Shores everyone is quick to offer camaraderie or help. I've been on the receiving end of both and would like to give back to my neighbors and the community. So, my Free Art (FART) Gallery is my thank you to Ocean Shores.

And, I hope to spread some art appreciation mojo. Because when life gets messy and emotions are tied up in knots, art can soothe the soul.

Why Give Away My Art?

I'm in my sunset years. I have no heirs or family and I need to downsize my holdings of art and art supplies.

And, aware of my future ticking away, I'm playing with media and techniques I haven't previously used--stuff I always meant to try but didn't. Normally, these "experiments" get stashed in a drawer and forgotten. And, most are created in a small format... I don't want to experiment on expensive 48"x48" canvases.

Arting heals me. I hope it can heal you as well. Where is it?
