Tiny Bird Houses

I've got a few dozen bird houses available for purchase. In addition to full size homes, I also have tiny versions that are perfect for fairy gardens or hostess gifts. Each is a work of art in itself. The media varies from mixed media collage to original paintings. Some (like the green house in the center, above) are wrapped in acrylic pours on canvas.

I really love using the bird houses as my substrate. Many are test studies as I play with various media and color combos. I often sit down in the evening and stream "Landscape (or Portrait) Artist of the Year" on the telly while I bring each house to life.

I have a lot of fun playing with roof treatments. Copper pennies are a popular choice. Wine corks are another favorite. I also have used craft sticks (tongue depressors), copper tape, and corrugated cardboard. I have a ton o' fun picking through my treasure troves of ephemera, beads and other "crap" to find the perfect elements for each work.
