Avocet's Carrot Top

I used to live near Coyote Hills where there's a great birding area by the salt ponds in the shadow of the Dumbarton Bridge. Adult Avocets are easy to spot (esp. during the breeding season), but it's more of a thrill to glimpse the chicks who are harder to spot in their camouflage finery. Unlike, say, baby egrets, Avocet chicks can feed themselves and swim shortly after hatching. Like the image? You can buy it on greeting cards. They're 5-1/2" square, on 16 pt premium cardstock.
